Preschool Enrollment for Douglas County Preschool is a three-step process:

Initial Registration Request - start the registration process with a registration request, and complete the online survey (see below).
The following documents and forms will be required for registration

  • Birth Certificate (state issued)
  • Current Health Appraisal
  • Immunizations (if your child has a personal or religious exemption please scroll down to the bottom for more information)
  • Proof Of Residency (Warranty Deed, Deed of Trust, current Property Tax Notice, Lease Agreement, County Assessor Page, or Notarized Proof of Residency letter from the person you are living with.
  • Medication Release Form (if necessary)

Placement Offer - after the initial registration request is submitted online, notification of a potential preschool placement, or not, will be emailed within 4-6 weeks from the time you submit the survey. Registration Email will contain the following: Placement, Link to Online Registration, and Deadline For Submission.

Online Registration Confirmation - Once you register and upload all required documents for your child through the online tool you will receive an email confirming the acceptance of your registration. All 2022/23 Registration Fees will be waived. This was made possible through the Colorado Department of Health and Social Services (CDHS), Office Of Early Childhood (OEC) Child Care Operations Stabilization Grant.

Preschool Age Requirements
  • Children must be 3 years old to attend a DCSD Preschool program.
  • To apply for the upcoming school year your child needs to be 3 years old before 9/1, otherwise, you can apply 3 weeks before their 3rd birthday.
  • If your child will be 5 years old by 10/1, your child is age-eligible for Kindergarten that school year and is no longer eligible to enroll in a DCSD Preschool program. For information about the DCSD Kindergarten program click here.

Outside Agencies

Complaints regarding violations of Title VI, (race, national origin), Title IX (sex, gender), Section 504/ADA (handicap or disability), may be filed directly with the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, 1244 North Speer Blvd., Suite 310, Denver, CO 80204. Complaints regarding violations of Title VII (employment) and the ADEA (prohibiting age discrimination in employment) may be filed directly with the Federal Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 303 E. 17th Ave., Suite 510, Denver, CO 80202, or the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, 1560 Broadway, Suite 1050, Denver, CO 80202.


Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records by email to [email protected]
