Dear Douglas County Staff and Community,
As the 2019-2020 school year nears an end, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and perseverance over the past two months. We know the switch to remote learning certainly was not easy. However, hearing the amazing stories of students engaged with their teachers and focused on their education has been absolutely inspirational.
APPLY TO JOIN OUR FALL 2020 PLANNING TASK FORCE
The Douglas County School District (DCSD) plans to return to in-person learning this August, unless healthcare experts, the Colorado Department of Education, and/or Governor Polis advise otherwise.
We are seeking parents/guardians, students, teachers, staff, and community members to help with the creation of a plan to safely reopen our schools, as well as contingency plans, in case returning to the classroom in August is not possible.
To be considered for this Task Force, please complete this application by Tuesday, May 19.
Applicants selected to serve on the Task Force will be notified of their selection by Friday, May 22, and will be expected to attend virtual meetings on a weekly basis beginning Tuesday, May 26.
PROVIDE US YOUR FEEDBACK ON REMOTE LEARNING
Next week, a survey will be sent to collect feedback regarding the implementation of remote learning these past two months. When the survey link is received, please take a few minutes to complete it according to how remote learning worked for you and your family. Your honest feedback will help us make adjustments and improvements should remote learning need to continue into the future.
Thank you for your feedback and all that has been done to support our 68,000 students, especially during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Thomas S. Tucker, Ph.D.
Superintendent
Douglas County School District
