IMPORTANT .... ALL RENTALS CANCELLED MARCH 14TH and MARCH 15TH

March 14, 2024

The Douglas County School District will be CLOSED on Friday, March 15 due to weather conditions including heavy snow.

While the snowfall may taper off throughout the day today, the snow accumulations make it very unlikely that residential roads, parking lots, bus terminals, etc. will be cleared in time for school tomorrow.

As always, in the event of a closure, all DCSD buildings are closed.

  • Preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school classes are cancelled

  • BASE programs are closed

  • Classes at the Bridge Program, D.C. Oakes, Eagle Academy, eDCSD and Plum Creek Academy are cancelled

  • All activities, events, sports, and facility rentals are cancelled

If your child attends a DCSD charter school, we encourage you to check in with your school.

Our snow team is continuing to monitor the storm. We will provide any updates on our website, social media, and our mobile app.

March 13, 2024

Dear DCSD Families and Staff,

The Douglas County School District will be CLOSED on Thursday, March 14 due to forecasted weather conditions which include heavy snow.

We are making this decision early as a precaution so that we can provide our staff and families time to prepare. As this closure is being made based on weather forecasts – making the call early increases the chance that the snow could be less than projected. Should that be the case, we appreciate your understanding.

If snow totals truly reach forecasts of one to two FEET, it is unlikely that residential roads, parking lots, bus terminals, etc. would be cleared in time for Friday. We will continue to monitor the weather and forecasts and will update you should DCSD remain closed on Friday.

The Office of Facility Rentals supports our stakeholders by managing use (inside and outside) of our schools within our community. With nearly seventy school sites, we provide a wide variety of space to suit our clients' needs. Our goal is to provide rental space for your organization while controlling costs.

The Office of Facility Rentals is one of the primary contacts between our community and our schools. A wide variety of groups (both non-profit and commercial) utilize our schools seven days a week.

A portion of the rental dollars is shared directly to the school, which gives the school additional funding to further support children's education.

We look forward to working with you and your organization in the near future.
