DCSD Employee Council

The Douglas County School District Employee Council is a voluntary advisory group that provides employee input and feedback to the Superintendent on various school district-wide matters including working conditions, compensation and benefits. The Council is made up of 40 employees representing all employee groups, including Classified, Licensed and Admin/ProTech.

Staff Compensation Increase for the 2019-2020 School Year

Thank you to those of you who reached out to your supervisor, or to the DCSD Human Resources team, with feedback about the compensation recommendations for the 2019-2020 school year.

We are happy to report that at the May 1 special meeting, the DCSD Board of Education approved the staff recommendation that all regular employees receive a 3.5% pay raise for the 2019-2020 school year. Staff that is employed with DCSD as of May 1, 2019, will qualify for this pay raise. The 3.5% raise will be based on their pay rate as of May 1, 2019. Any staff member who received an “Ineffective” rating on their evaluation will not be eligible for the pay increase.

Providing a flat pay increase for all employee groups for 2019-2020 will help avoid further exacerbating compensation discrepancies, while also working to fix the overall DCSD compensation structure moving forward. More details are available in the March 2019 Compensation Update provided to staff from the DCSD Employee Council.

For the coming school year, inflation/cost of living is estimated to increase by 2.7%. In addition, the PERA employee contribution rate (determined by the state) is increasing by 0.75%. We felt it was important to provide staff with a pay increase that would absorb these increased costs. The approved pay raise is a flat rate of 3.5% (cost of living increases and PERA employee contribution rate is not being added to the 3.5%).

Should the Colorado School Finance Act pass (projected to happen by Friday, May 3) with projected per-pupil funding levels intact, employees will see their new pay rate take effect on their first paycheck in the 2019-2020 contract year.
