Students from all across the district have the opportunity to open enroll in Lone Tree Elementary, a magnet school that teaches students the way the brain learns best. Using Susan Kovalik’s Highly Effective Teaching (HET, formerly Integrated Thematic Instruction), this unique instructional model includes: integrated conceptual curriculum, body-brain compatible elements, “being there” experiences, social-political action projects, Lifelong Guidelines, and LIFESKILLS. Believing that the goal of education is responsible citizenship, students are encouraged to work collaboratively, through their area of strengths, towards mastery of District End Statements, and State Standards.
