ZPass and Transfinder systems in place to ensure student safety
The 2016-17 school year is in full swing at Transportation, as drivers and Transportation Educational Aides (TEAs) return to transporting our students. New and updated systems are in place and provide the technology to support our commitment to the safety of our students.
Parents can sign up online through their secure district sign-on for ZPass, which sends a text message to parents to inform them when their student boarded or departed the bus. New ZPass readers installed on buses provide more secure transportation for our students and ensure our ability to locate a student who may accidently depart at the wrong stop. Our drivers have been educating students on the new scanners to avoid double scanning.
Drivers and TEAs continue to adjust route books and are eagerly learning about our new school bus routing software, Transfinder. Our scheduling department and drivers are working together to learn how Transfinder plans routes. In collaboration with other DCSD departments, some routes have been streamlined and drivers have produced defined timelines to use in conjunction with the new software.
