Student Assistance Department Mission
To equitably engage and empower students and families in academics and social-emotional learning by utilizing individualized, strength-based, and solution-focused interventions.
Student Assistance Department Vision
Creating diverse programming for students and families to overcome barriers, re-engage in educational options, and build resiliency with the support of specialized staff through targeted interventions.
Services Provided
Staff in the Student Assistance Department provide District-wide services in the following ways:
- DC Student Support Center: Academic Programming, which includes Credit Recovery & Social/Emotional Support
- Chronic Absenteeism Interventions: Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) and Community-partnerships
- DCSD GED Center at the Student Assistance Department
- Expulsion Services: Services for Expelled Students in partnership with students' home schools
- Dropout Reduction: High School Intervention and Care Crew: Home Visit Program
- Grant Writing
- Homebound Programming
