## About the Mathematics Department

Since its inception in 1983, the Math Department has been proud of the success that its students have demonstrated. Ponderosa math students have some of the lowest college math remediation rates in the state of Colorado . From Algebra I through BC Calculus an incremental development is used. This approach helps to insure that a concept will remain with a student once the concept is learned.

## Student of the Month

The April Math Student of the Month award goes to Jack Bauer. As a sophomore, Jack is currently double enrolled in Geometry and Algebra 2 with Trig. He is a very respectful young man that works extremely hard. In my Geometry class he is always on task and always has his homework completed on time. If he does not understand a topic he is not afraid to ask for help. He strives to be the top student in his class. Jack is also willing to help others and is a true leader in the classroom. Keep up the hard work Jack. Congratulations!
