About the Business Department

The Business department at Ponderosa High School is proud to offer a variety of Career and Technical Education courses. Students have the opportunity to receive college credit in 6 of our course offerings, including Accounting, Intro. to Business, Marketing and Intro. to PC Applications. In addition, there are certifications available to students in the IT class and Microsoft Office.  All course offerings provide real world skills that will transfer into post secondary education and workforce skills. In addition to providing a variety of courses, students have the opportunity to join FBLA or DECA. These academic organizations provide students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a competitive environment. Students are able to have leadership opportunities, compete at a district, state and national level, with the chance to travel, network, and receive scholarships for college.

Students of the Month

Business Student of the Month

Congratulations Olivia Stenman on being selected the March Student of the Month!

Olivia is our Peak 3 Chapter Award winner attending the State Leadership Conference representing Ponderosa FBLA--Future Business Leaders of America.  She is an outstanding member that participates in many activities. In addition, she is an excellent student in the BUS 115 class, a college class Intro. to Business. Congratulations Olivia. Well done!

Marketing Student of the Month

Congratulation to Michael Knight on being selected the March Student of the Month! Michael has actually been a DECA super hero this year. He has been an active contributor in our department since his freshman year and it has been so much fun to watch him grow into the young man he is today. Michael was instrumental in our Wish Week silent auction and golf tournament. I asked him to go above and beyond time and time again because I knew he would get the job done right, the first time, or at least fix it until it was. Michael spent every off period, lunch and many days before ad after school on his written event to open a franchise of Krispy Kreme in Boulder. He found the entrepreneurial passion in Mr. Chambless’ class and really ran with it. I believe his work and manual stand among the top in the nation and hope he has the opportunity to prove it at ICDC at the end of April. Our DECA program and department will feel a huge loss when Michael graduates in May.
