About the Business Department

The Business department at Ponderosa High School is proud to offer a variety of Career and Technical Education courses. Students have the opportunity to receive college credit in 6 of our course offerings, including Accounting, Intro. to Business, Marketing and Intro. to PC Applications. In addition, there are certifications available to students in the IT class and Microsoft Office.  All course offerings provide real world skills that will transfer into post secondary education and workforce skills. In addition to providing a variety of courses, students have the opportunity to join FBLA or DECA. These academic organizations provide students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a competitive environment. Students are able to have leadership opportunities, compete at a district, state and national level, with the chance to travel, network, and receive scholarships for college.

Students of the Month

Business Student of the Month

Congratulations Amanda Pearson on being selected the April Student of the Month!

Amanda Pearson is an amazing student. She has taken 2 business classes, Multimedia Survey I and Microsoft Office Applications, which she has excelled in both. In addition, Amanda is willing to help out others any time asked. She works well with her peers, individually, as pairs or in groups. She is a gifted artist and combines art and business fluidly. Well-deserved Amanda.

Marketing Student of the Month

Our April student of the month is Micayla Giambruno. Micayla has taken so much initiative this year to leave her mark on our marketing program. She had a personal goal of making it to state on her role play in DECA and as a result of her hard work, she and her partner actually qualified to compete at the international level in Financial Services. She also went above and beyond during Wish Week and at our first annual Wish Week Classic. Micayla truly became the DECA officer that other members would come to for guidance. In class she is always on task, asking for additional responsibility and making sure the Stang Shoppe is in working order.
