Fundraiser - Great American SpellCheck


This year, all Northridge students Grade 1- Grade 6 will participate in the Great American SpellCheck. It’s a fundraiser that makes sure 100% of the money raised benefits our school.


Like last year, PTA and DBC are working together to raise funds. Funds raised by DBC classes will support specific instructional materials and resources for the Discovery Program. Funds raised by the PTA will support capital improvements to the interior of the school.​



Our goal is to raise an average of $30 per child to fund teacher grants for instructional materials. If every child raises $30, we could fund $15,000 worth of instructional materials and learning experiences for our students!


Here’s how it works: Your child studies 50 spelling words and collects pledges from family and friends for every word that he or she spells correctly on the Great American SpellCheck 50 word test. Family and friends can also give a flat donation, if they prefer.  Your child improves his or her spelling skills and Northridge enjoys the financial benefits!


Great American SpellCheck Fundraising Timeline:

  • February 8 - February 9: Spelling Words Received & Study Time

  • February 20 - February 21: Spelling Tests conducted by teacher in classrooms

  • Thursday, March 1: Graded Spelling tests returned to students in Thursday folder/Students begin collecting pledges

  • Thursday, March 8: Pledges Money DUE! Students submit all pledges in marked envelope (with students name & teacher name) to homeroom teacher. Please make checks payable to: NRE PTA



- The Discovery and non-Discovery class with the highest amount raised will each earn a pizza party.

- The highest earning Discovery and non-Discovery student will each get to have lunch with Principal Lynch.
