The Principal Chronicles continue ... As I write this, it is our Fun Run prize day! but while our kids are having all kinds of fun outside, I have been stuck in meetings all morning. That being said, I do get to go out the last part of the day and get drenched by the kids who raised enough money to get a shot at hitting a target, which releases a large volume of water onto my head, which will most likely be freezing. At least it is warm out, and the kids all get a kick out of seeing me get wet. Of course, I will be trying my best to distract them from actually hitting the target with my full verbal arsenal.
The other major thing going on is that we all just returned from fall break. We had many staff members and families travel to exotic and interesting places. As for the Miller clan? I was either running errands or at CTE for most of the break. As many of my readers know, we have a dog named George who likes to get into things and tear them to shreds. So two Saturdays ago I returned home to find some serious carnage in our house. I should have known who was responsible, since when I walked in, George bolted outside. Probably because he could sense his imminent demise. He had gotten into my school bag where I was keeping a ton of very important paperwork. George ate my name tag, a pen, my leather-bound folder (a gift from my parents I have been carrying to school for my entire 18 year educational career), my youngest's birth certificate and all of her passport paperwork, my school id, and a whole bag of grapes (those were just on the counter). So, as you can guess, my new fall break tasks were essentially moved from anything fun to obtaining new paperwork for my youngest, which was not an easy thing to take care of. Note to self: when purchasing a new pet make sure said pet is not long enough to reach up and eat anything off of a counter. What can you do??

Hurricane Sock Drive - Thanks for your help with Student Council's sock drive. We collected 483 pairs of socks for hurricane relief. Our local Salvation Army is shipping them to those in need.
Thanksgiving Dinner Drive for Parker Task Force - Student Council is collecting food for those in need. Please consider donating any of the items below for these meals. The grade level who collects the most items will win a popcorn party.

Potatoes (fresh, canned or boxed)
Gravy (packets or jars)

Bagged Dinner Rolls (not frozen or refrigerated)

Snacks for Lunch - parents, please consider visiting with your students regarding their lunch eating habits. We have lots of students buying and eating snacks instead of eating the lunch they have purchased.
Fun Run: Thank you so much for all your support! We raised $21,827.79! That's amazing! We hope all the students had fun at prize day and were able to celebrate what they did for our school!
Trunk-or-Treat: Reminder that this event is Saturday, Oct. 28th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. We are still in need of more trunks! If you would like to host one or you know someone who would, please contact Christina Clements this week! We are happy to announce that in addition to the treats outside and crafts inside there will be food truck, 100% Street Tacos, to provide $2 tacos & beverages! Happy Halloween!
Butter Braids: Butter Braid order forms went home this week. While we do receive funds for every order, we want to share that this is simply a service we provide. Funds raised will be used to support PSP's goals of providing field trip scholarships, staff appreciation, PSP Grants, and more. Orders & payment are due Thursday, Nov. 2nd. The Butter Braids will be delivered Friday, Nov. 10th.
Monthly Meeting: Reminder our PSP Monthly Meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 2:15pm. Please note the time change. We are trying a daytime meeting just before school gets out, so stop in before you pick up your kiddos!

Dear CTE Families:
This year, to celebrate Veteran's Day, we are hosting a veteran from the Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation to read to students and tell his story, along with a Q&A time.
In conjunction with this, we would like to decorate the walls with stories of our community's veterans. A template, My Veteran's Day Hero, can be completed by your child at home. Students can honor a family member or friend who has served in the military. There is a place to include his/her name, the veteran's name, and service information, and either a photograph or a drawing that represents their veteran. You could also have your child write a short piece on why their Veteran is a Hero, and how they exhibited EPIC qualities as a veteran. This could either be on the template or attached to it.
Your child's teacher also has the template if you are unable to print it at home. Please return the completed form to your child's teacher by Thursday, 11/2, so that we have time to create the display prior to the veteran's visit on Monday, 11/6, and for our Donuts with Dad event on Friday, 11/10.
