THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES - JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ... I am saving my really good stories for the Christmas Edition next week so this one is going to be a short one. I love this time of year. Typically I would be at the MLS Cup final but since I have become a principal I haven't been going because it is such a busy time of year. I am actually happy not to be there this year because it's in Toronto. No one wants to be playing an outside game in Toronto in December. It's freezing so I am very happy to be here where it is not freezing (oh wait, it's colder here than there? oh well).

Lastly, before I had off to my litany of meetings/observations/conversations/getting into classrooms, we are having our second Principal Breakfast next Wednesday Morning at 7:45 until school starts. Our topics are going to be the Elementary Progress Report and Carpool. For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Elementary Progress Report is the report card.

Hopefully, we will see you on Wednesday. That is it for this week's episode, until next time when the Principal Chronicles continue ...

King Soopers: We know many of you are doing a lot of grocery shopping this time of year. If you shop at King Soopers you can support CTE by using a King Soopers Neighborhood Rewards Card. Fill out the form and send it in with $5. We will provide you with a card loaded with $5. You can then use it like a reloadable gift card. The card can be loaded at the King Soopers checkout counter or the customer service desk. You can also use and load the cards at Loaf 'n Jug. Every time you reload the card CTE receives 5%! 3rd GRADE FIELD TRIP! IMPORTANT INFO! MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Our 3rd grade students will be taking their annual field trip to see and hear The Colorado Symphony Orchestra perform the Youth Series Concert - Symphonic Storytelling on Wednesday January 11th, 2017.

Due to book keeping and budget constraints, monies can not be collected before January 2017. You will be getting the field trip permission/payment form on Thursday, January 5th in Thursday Folders. You will need to fill it out and return it, along with your payment by Tuesday January 10th.

Students will need to bring a sack lunch with them and leave it here at CTE. We will all eat in the cafeteria when we return at 1:00pm.

I'm going to be needing 10 chaperones to help with the trip. Chaperones, your $6.00 bus fee will be covered by the district, but you will need to pay the $5.00 concert ticket fee. Email me and I'll take the first 10 who contact me. I appreciate the help!

DCSD is requesting parent input on the health and wellness of our students. Last year, DCSD received a large planning grant from Colorado Health Foundation in an effort to assess how the district supports students through the lens of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model (WSCC). The mission of this grant is to review the current state of DCSD's student health and wellness program, and then formulate a three to five-year plan based on stakeholders’ needs, the latest research, and best practices. As part of this process, we would like your input.

How are we doing?

We want to hear from you! How often do you prefer to receive email newsletters from DCSD? How can we improve the news and information you receive? This brief survey should only take a minute or two of your time. Thank you for giving us your input!

Tell us what you think, here!

It may look like a plain, white shipping container was just parked on the backyard grounds of Mountain Vista High School. The contents of the container are anything but plain, though. Walking inside the container, different colors of ambient lighting glow, futuristic-looking equipment and tall towers are suspended from the ceiling, and the humidity level is set to 70 percent. The container has been recycled into a new kind of learning opportunity for students.
