What Happens When You Call for Help?
Need Help Now? You’re Not Alone.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing emotional distress, thoughts of self-harm, or a mental health crisis, immediate support is available:
Call or Text 988 — You’ll reach a trained specialist who can listen, de-escalate, and connect you to local resources.
Live Chat — Available via the 988 Colorado website.
Confidential, Free, 24/7 service in English, Spanish, and multiple other languages.
Starting July 1, 2025, calls/texts to previous Colorado Crisis Services lines (1-844-493-8255 / “TALK” → 38255) will also be routed here.
More Information on How it Works — When you call or text 988 you are connected to a trained responder who will listen, assess immediate safety needs, help calm the situation, and, when needed, connect you with local services for follow-up care. The service is confidential and free.
Additional resources: All DCSD schools have trained mental health staff (counselors, social workers, psychologists) who support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. For more information, visit the DCSD Mental Health Support page.
