Meet Your Nurse: DCSD Nurse Biographies
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1982. My nursing experience includes Neonatal Intensive Care and Case Management for hospitals, insurance companies and a physician network. In 2000 I began working with DCSD as a School Nurse Consultant, including the last 10 years working with the district’s Early Childhood Department. I enjoy spending time with my family, skiing, hiking, biking and traveling.
Diabetes Resource Nurse
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979 with my bachelors of science in nursing. Throughout my nursing career I have been fortunate to work as a registered nurse in cardiac and neurological intensive care units as well as, home health. However, for the past nineteen years I have worked as a school nurse consultant for the Douglas County School District - I have loved having the opportunity to empower youth to overcome their individual barriers to health. Over the past three years I have been a diabetes resource nurse for DCSD. Working as a resource nurse, I have been fortunate to team with the Colorado Kids with Diabetes Consortium as well as, fellow Colorado diabetes resource nurses to improve the care of student’s with diabetes in the school setting. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my priceless family, skiing, ranching, and chasing that little white ball around (i.e. golfing). My job depicts my true passion - improving the lives and health independence of the youth in DCSD.
I graduated from beautiful Keuka College in the Finger Lake Region of NY in 1980 with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I received my Master of Science degree in Health & Wellness Promotion in 2005. I have worked as an ER nurse, in Labor & Delivery and as the Nursing Supervisor for a 210 bed hospital in Rochester NY. After moving to CO in 1993 with my husband & 2 sons, I worked in Labor & Delivery and then started my career as a school nurse in the Cherry Creek School District in 1999. I started working for DCSD in July of 2000. I look forward to coordinating nursing services for our district and working with families & staff to afford all students safety & access to their education. I love the great outdoors of CO and photographing wildlife and my 3 beautiful grandsons. Spending time with my family is my greatest joy!
Castle Rock Team Nurse Bios
I have been a Registered Nurse for 34 years. I received my BSN in January of 1992 from The University of San Diego. ( I graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in June of 1982.) I have been employed by Children’s Hospitals in Milwaukee and San Diego specializing in Heme/Onc. I worked part time as a home care infusionist also during that time. We left California for Colorado and I worked in two hospitals on the Eastern Plains of Colorado specializing in pediatrics. I have also been employed by two public health departments in Colorado working with the Prenatal Plus Program, Immunizations, EPSDT, EPP, Immunizations, Child birth/ Child Care classes, CPR instructor. DCSD School Nurse Consultant since 1999. Married to Brandon for 23 years. My interests are our three daughters, music, theater, travel, skiing.
I have been a Registered Nurse for 32 years, graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Tx with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. My nursing experiences includes: Hospital Senior Staff Nurse in Med/Surg., Neuro/Neuro Surgery with the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Outpatient Clinic Nurse - Adult and Family Practice with Kaiser Permanente and School Nursing with Douglas County and Cherry Creek Schools. I love spending time with my family and friends and I also enjoy spending time outside and traveling.
I have been a Registered Nurse for 10 years. I received my BSN in December of 2005 from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. I received my MSN in Healthcare Systems Management in December of 2011 from Loyola University of New Orleans. My nursing experience includes NICU, Emergency Department, GI lab, and pediatric home healthcare. I began working for Douglas County School District in August of 2014 after relocating to Colorado from Texas in March of 2014. I live with my husband, 2 year old daughter, and 3 month old son. We love to travel, cook, hike and spend time with family and friends.
I have been a nurse for 13 years. I graduated with a psychology degree from a small college in Jackson, Mississippi before completing my BSN at the University of Mississippi. I am originally from Mississippi and moved to Colorado 10 years ago. I was a mom baby nurse for 12 years before deciding to pursue my career at DCSD in March of 2015. I have 3 boys, Trip is in the 6th grade at Soaring Hawk Elementary, Cooper is in the 5th grade at Soaring Hawk Elementary and Walker will be in 1st grade. I love to spend time with my family, cook, travel, read and be outside.
I have been a nurse for 31 years. I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama. I worked at the USA medical center for 2 years in ER/Trauma Unit before joining the US Navy. During my tour at NAS Jacksonville, I had the opportunity to work in several areas (Med /Surg, Telemetry, PACU, Same Day Surgery and ER). Following my active duty tour, I continued working with the Naval Reserves for 2 years. My husband’s 20-year military career has taken us to many different and exciting locations. I have worked in Stepdown ICU, ER, and ambulatory care clinics in Scotland, California, Virginia and Maryland. I have worked with Douglas County School District for the last 13 years. John and I have 4 daughters and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
I have been a Registered Nurse for 6 ½ years, graduating from Regis University in 2009. Before that, I received a BS in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2004. I have spent the last 5 years as a Mom/Baby GYN nurse at Lutheran and before that spent time in Corrections. I am very excited to be starting my School Nursing career in DCSD. I have been married for 12 years and have 2 beautiful boys. We love to travel, camp, hike, and be outside. I also love to “face lift” my house and work in the garden.
I have been a registered nurse for almost 10 years. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2007. I worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado from 2005-2014 in the recovery room, ambulatory clinic setting, cardiac stepdown and NICU/PICU. I have been a nurse consultant with DCSD since 2014. Before working in the medical field and completing my nursing degree I received my bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver in 2004. I am a Colorado native. I have been married to my husband James for 11 years and we have 2 children, Ella who is 9 and Daniel who is 3. I love to spend time with my kids, travel, read, and anything to do with music and musical theater.
I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1993 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. I specialized in Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant before becoming a stay at home mom. I have 3 children, Kayla who is attending CU Boulder as a freshman this year, Matthew who is a junior at RCHS and Zachary who is an 8th grader at RHMS. I have been married to my husband, Darrell, for 21 years. He is a football coach at RCHS as well as trying to keep up with his “day” job with Trizetto. In recent years I have worked in pediatric home health and then worked as a school nurse in Cherry Creek for the past 6 years. This is my first year as a nurse consultant with DCSD, I am very excited to join the team! I love spending time with my family and friends, boating/sailing and traveling.
Highlands Ranch Nurse Team Bios
I graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1986. Prior to school nursing I worked in both Newborn and Pediatric Intensive Care. In 1994 I became one of four School Nurse Consultants in Douglas County School District until the birth of my third child. After spending several years at home full time, and adding one more child to our family, I returned to DCSD as a School Nurse in 2008 when our youngest entered first grade. In 2010 I earned my Master’s Degree in Health Services and Wellness Promotion. I love hiking, skiing, wellness, and most of all spending time with my husband and kids.
I graduated from the University of Evansville in Evansville IN with a BS in Nursing and then from the University of Colorado with an MS in Community Health Nursing. I have worked on medical-surgical nursing floors at two Denver hospitals, in Community Health Nursing at Mesa County Health Dept, in Family Practice offices in Strasburg and Aurora, CO and for a United Airlines occupational clinic at DIA. I have worked for Douglas County School District as a School Nurse Consultant since 2002. I love hiking and snowshoeing with friends and my black lab, visiting with my son and his family as well as my 10 siblings and mother, and dancing whenever and wherever I can!
I attended University of Louisiana at Lafayette, but completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Regents College of Nursing. I have been a nurse for 21 years. I moved to Colorado in 2012 and started working in DCSD as a school nurse. Prior to working in DCSD, I was a school nurse in Louisiana for 7 years. I have also worked in both the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and on the Pediatric Unit at Opelousas General Hospital. I enjoy spending time with my family in Louisiana, and most of all, exploring all that Colorado has to offer with my husband and 2 children.
I have been a Registered Nurse since 1982. I graduated from California State University at Los Angeles with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing and later achieved my Masters Degree with a concentration in Health and Wellness Promotion. I worked for 5 years in a hospital nursing float pool and worked for 5 years for the Visiting Nurses Association. I started school nursing in Las Vegas, NV and I have enjoyed being a Douglas County School Nurse Consultant since 1999. I enjoy reading, photography, scrapbooking, hiking and being a mom.
I graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1985. I worked in pediatrics at University Hospital. I then worked as a clinical research monitor and research nurse in Oncology. I have spent the last 12 years working at Wilder Elementary in Special Education. I have two boys and have been married to my husband for 26 years. My youngest is at CU and is in Air Force ROTC. My oldest son just finished graduate school and recently moved to San Fransisco for a job. I love being active outdoors, hiking, biking, snowshoeing and traveling with all three of my “boys”.
I am originally from New York and attended Bates College in Maine with BA in Psychology, then Case Western Reserve in Cleveland with an ND in Nursing. I have been in Colorado for over 30 years and it is home! This will be my 9th year in DCSD and I have over 20 years of school nursing experience. My twin daughters Becky and Sarah just graduated from college and I am caretaker to my husband Steve who is disabled and my border collie, Tucker.
I graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1993. I started my nursing career at Texas Children’s Hospital working in orthopedics. Then I transitioned to clinical pediatric nursing in an Ear, Nose and Throat clinic. I have been working in school nursing since 2006. I have been a school nurse consultant for Douglas County School District since 2013. I enjoy reading, baking and spending time in the outdoors with my husband and kids.
I am originally from Kentucky, however, I attended both primary and secondary school in California. I moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in 1995. I have been married for over 20 years to my wonderful husband and have a busy teenager that attends high school in the Douglas County School District. I have cat named Jack and have recently rescued a beautiful Great Dane named Bella. I have been a registered nurse since 1988 and have had the the privilege of working in pediatrics for my entire career. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from California State University Fullerton and a Masters in Public Health from Walden University. I have worn many hats as a pediatrics nurse being employed for The Children’s Hospital. I joined DCSD in 2006 as a Douglas County School Nurse Consultant. I enjoy hiking, cooking, crafts, and singing and I look forward to working and meeting with you!
I graduated from Regis University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1997. My past nursing experience includes Pediatric Oncology/Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant and Pediatric Intensive Care. I have worked at Children’s Hospitals in California, Texas and Colorado. I previously worked as a School Nurse with Children’s Hospital Colorado’s School Health Program and joined the DCSD Nurse Consultant team in 2011. My husband and I have been in Colorado for 10 years and we have two sons and a daughter, ages 18, 15 and 7. I enjoy running, cooking and spending time with my busy family.
I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1998. I had the privilege of working at Colorado Kids Pediatrics where I worked with asthma & allergy clients and performed IVIG, pediatric home health, Pre-Op & PACU, hair replacement surgery, the medical/surgical unit at Aurora South, and both Porter and Parker Adventist Hospitals in Labor & Delivery, Mom-Baby, and Transition (Birthplace). I have an amazing husband, Scott, and 3 wonderful children, Austin, 19, at UNC, Parker, 16, at RCHS, and Lauren, 13, at RHMS and an awesome Boston Terrier. I am a brand new Nurse Consultant to DCSD as of July 2016!! My husband and I also run a Nutrition Club called HealthQ Nutrition in the DTC where we inspire others to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I enjoy time with my family at church, swimming, biking, hiking, and attending the fun fit camps at HealthQ Nutrition!!
Parker Nurse Team Bios
I attended the University of Wyoming where I received my Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 1992. I moved to Colorado to begin my career in pediatric nursing at Children’s Hospital, Denver. I worked there in the NICU from 1992 to 2000 and then again from 2006 to 2010. From 1997 to 2000, I acted as the Department Education Coordinator in the NICU and planned educational opportunities for staff, new hires, and graduate nurses. I also worked in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 2000 to 2002. I began working as a Nurse Consultant for Douglas County School District when my youngest child was in school full time. I have 4 children and I enjoy watching them participate in all of their activities.
Jenne is graduate of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Nursing. She has a Bachelor’s degree in the Science of Nursing. Jenne has been an Registered Nurse for thirteen years. Prior to school nursing, Jenne worked at an area Level One Trauma Center in Neuro and Trauma ICU, for the previous fourteen years. Jenne is married, and has two children that keep her on her toes! Outside of work, Jenne enjoys spending time with family and friends, running and working out, as well as her children’s activities.
I attended the University of Michigan, from which I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biology), as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Nursing. I have been a Registered Nurse for 16 years. 10 years of my work experience was from the University of Michigan Level 1 Hospital/Trauma Center. I have worked in Cardiac Telemetry Unit, Intensive Care Unit, as well as Labor Delivery Recovery PostPartum. The past 3 years, I have been an itinerant school nurse consultant for Aurora Public Schools. I am happily married and have two daughters. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, biking, horseback riding, sailing, gardening, and cooking. Basically, I love being in the great outdoors.
I have been a registered nurse for 16 years. I received my Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Regis University. Prior to joining the DCSD team of nurse consultants, I spent 11 years in the Emergency Department and 18 months in Neuro/Trauma ICU at an area Level One Trauma facility. I have also worked in another area hospital Emergency Department, as well as critical care ground transport for a regional-based service. I have been married for 8 years and we have a 6 year old boy. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and traveling.
Prior to being a School Nurse Consultant, I worked in the acute care setting for 10 years. I worked in a variety of Cardiac settings including a Cardiac Telemetry Unit, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and I was an Atrial Fibrillation Coordinator. I have been married to my husband Ryan for 12 years and we have two wonderful and rambunctious boys. We have lived in Colorado for 20 years and we love spending time with our family and friends. Most of all, we love taking advantage of all the outdoor activities this beautiful state has to offer.
I earned my RN, BSN from Elms College in Massachusetts in 1989. My career as an RN began at Baystate Medical Center - Tufts New England Medical Center in Springfield, MA in Pediatric Trauma/Med Surg. I also have a degree in Speech Pathology from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. My career moved to Pediatric Home Care following one of our high risk pediatric patients transition from the hospital setting into a public school. I developed policy and procedure for medical technical children to attend public school under the guidance of Childrens Hospital of Boston. Thankfully, we were transferred to this beautiful state and I began working in Cherry Creek School District. I started working for DCSD in 2004 and love being part of Nursing Services Department. My husband and I enjoy spending as much time as possible with our family and traveling.
I graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo some 24 years ago. I worked in labor and delivery at Medical Center of Aurora and helped open Parker Adventist. I am enjoying my career at DCSD working with students and staff and parents. My husband and I have 3 older daughters and a stubborn English bulldog that keep us laughing and on our toes. I love to bake and planning/doing fun things for my family and friends to do.
I graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with my BSN in 2002. I worked my first 5 years in nursing as a Labor and Delivery Nurse in Del Rio, TX. I then took 6 years off to raise my young children and came back to nursing in 2013 as a School Nurse. My husband and I have three beautiful children and we have traveled the country and the world with the Air Force. We are now permanently stationed here in CO with the CO Air National Guard. I love working in DCSD with the wonderful parents, students, and teachers! My family loves living in this gorgeous state and experiencing all it has to offer!
Hello, I am a transplant to Colorado. I am a born and raised Hoosier--that means I am from Indiana! I received my BSN from Ball State University in Muncie, IN (Go Cards!). I have been a nurse for over 20 years, with the majority of my clinical experience in cardiology. I am married with one child, and I enjoy hiking and the low humidity of Colorado.
