I have been with the Douglas County School District as the Parent and Community Liaison since 2014. My aim has been to increase parent and community partnerships and investment in schools in order ensure students are successful and thriving throughout their academic careers.
Prior to this current role, I worked in communications, policy and advocacy in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on children and the prevention of violence against women. I have two children in the Douglas County School system and I am a graduate of the University of Nebraska and have a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado-Denver.
As School Marketing Specialist, I have the awesome job of working directly with all 87 of our great schools. I work to support principals with their marketing and communications needs, fulfilling this both at a school and district level. This includes crafting communications plans for schools, setting up social media accounts and providing social media training, supporting school website needs, creating newsletters, writing news stories, coordinating school promotional videos, taking photos at school events, and more.
I am a Colorado native and actually grew up attending elementary, middle and high school right here in Douglas County. I am a CU grad and have a background in broadcast news.
I have the privilege of telling the inspiring and unique stories that are all around here in the schools of Douglas County. I am a career storyteller since 2001. I previously was a Photojournalist at 9News, Fox31, 7News, and KRDO. I absolutely love finding fun ways to tell a new story.
This district is important to me because it’s also my home. I have a wife and three young boys. They are all students or attending preschool in Douglas County. When I’m not working a camera or immersed in editing you’ll find me playing bass at church or in a rock band, clanking shots on the basketball court, or cheering on my Broncos and Nuggets - and justifying a good run-on sentence.
With 20+ years of combined experience in media relations, public relations, marketing and broadcast television, I am thrilled to be part of the Douglas County School District team. Not only do I work and live in Douglas County, I am also a proud DCSD parent!
Prior to joining the Douglas County School District, I spent time managing media relations for another Colorado school district. My career began in television news, with stops at 7News and FOX-31 News here in Colorado. I also spent time at a number of additional television stations in other states as a reporter, anchor and producer.
I earned my degree from the University of Nebraska - go Huskers!
I was fortunate enough to be able to relocate my family back to my beautiful home state of Colorado after an amazing nine-year stint in the U.S. Army. During my nine years in uniform, I had the privilege of telling the stories of men and women serving our country in Germany, Texas, Iraq, and the National Capitol Region through photographs and video.
As DCSD’s Creative Services Specialist, I produce the annual Apple Awards that recognizes DCSD's excellent teachers and staff, coordinate all student media throughout the district that culminates in the annual Student Film Festival, provide Livestreaming for all high school graduations, Board meetings, and major district events, provide professional photography and video services for DCSD departments and schools, and serve as a liaison for and support the efforts of DCSD media teachers. I additionally serve as the backup Public Information Officer for DCSD.
I knew from my first visit to a DCSD classroom that the stories I would find here would keep me engaged and loving what I do for years to come. I’m looking forward to help tell your story!
In my role of Communications Officer, I strive to support all DCSD public schools via our district’s key elements of: 1) educational excellence, 2) stakeholder satisfaction, and 3) a positive culture and climate.
As a Douglas County resident and parent, I am incredibly committed to the success of each and every public school in the Douglas County School District. I’m excited to be part of such a talented team of communications professionals.
I have over 17 years of experience in communications, public relations and marketing; ten years of that experience is in the field of K-12 public education. Prior to joining DCSD I served as the Communications Director for the Colorado League of Charter Schools, a non-profit membership organization.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Colorado at Denver as well as a certificate in graphic and web design from Platt College.
As Lead Graphic Designer and Brand Manager it is my pleasure to provide artistic direction, message discipline, brand consistency and marketing support for the District.
After attending the University of Colorado, Boulder and graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art, Denver, I ran Shaeffer Reagan Design, a full service graphic design firm, for 30 years.
As a proud DCSD parent of three, and volunteer for 17 years, I joined the DCSD Community Relations team shortly after my youngest child graduated from Rock Canyon High School. I continue to be exceptionally grateful to be part of the DCSD Community.
I joined the DCSD Community Relations team in September 2015. In my role, I keep DCSD employees and families up to date with the latest news coming from the District and our schools. This includes news story coverage and serving as editor of the District E-newsletter distributed to families (Newsline), as well as the employee E-newsletter (THINK). Additionally, I manage DCSD’s social media channels, help maintain the DCSD website and train other DCSD employees on how to update their respective web pages.
I am a graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver. Prior to joining DCSD, I worked in the Colorado nonprofit sector for 16 years, most recently including Phamaly Theatre Company, where I served as Executive Director for five years.
