Honors Roll In for DCSD Schools

Graduation rates are rising, DCSD schools are being recognized by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), and the College Board has selected Douglas County School District as one of their prestigious AP Honor Roll Schools. 2019 is off to a great start for Douglas County Schools.

DCSD Named Again to AP District Honor Roll

The Douglas County School District (DCSD) has again been named to the AP District Honor Roll. The Advanced Placement Program allows students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. Corresponding exams are administered once a year.

To be included on the 9th Annual AP District Honor Roll, school districts must maintain or increase the percentage of students earning AP exam scores of three or higher, while also demonstrating a commitment to increasing access to AP courses for underrepresented students.

A total of 373 school districts in the U.S. and Canada were named to this year’s list. Only four
Colorado school districts, including DCSD, received the recognition. DCSD was also named

CDE Recognizes DCSD Schools for Excellence

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) is recognizing several Douglas County School
District schools for high academic achievement. The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement
Award is given to schools demonstrating exceptional student growth. The John Irwin Schools
of Excellence awards recognize schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement
over time. Congratulations to the following DCSD schools:

DCSD Graduation Rate Reaches 90.8%

And finally, graduation rates in the Douglas County School District (DCSD) continue to climb. Data
released by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) shows the on-time, four-year
graduation rate is now 90.8 percent.

DCSD students also made an impressive showing at graduation. The class of 2018 earned
nearly $106 million in scholarships.

DCSD has one of the highest graduation rates in the Denver metro area. According to CDE,
DCSD graduation rates have risen steadily from 81.9 percent in 2009 to 90.8 percent in 2018.

The state’s graduation rate also improved. Colorado’s four-year graduation rate for 2018 is 80.7 percent.
