Colorado Preschool Program

The Colorado Preschool Program is a state-funded, district-run, preschool program. CPP is intended to serve preschool-aged children in Colorado who are at risk for starting elementary school unprepared. There is no fee for families that qualify. CPP allows eligible children to attend high-quality preschool at no cost to families. Families are a big part of a child’s learning experience. CPP helps support you in your role as a parent or guardian in your child’s educational experience.

Eligibility requirements vary depending on age. Child and family qualifying factors that affect overall learning readiness must be present in a child’s life in order for a child to be fit for CPP. Children are determined eligible for CPP based on the qualifying risk factors which have been shown to be associated with later challenges in school.

·      Four-year-old students must have at least one risk factor present, although most children served show two or more.

·      Three-year-old student must have at least three factors present.

These factors are determined by the legislature and are not based on income alone. Students must turn three or four years of age by October 1, 2019, to be eligible for the program for the current school year.

To apply for CPP in DCSD, complete the first step of the registration process, the online survey, and indicate your interest.
