Dear Douglas County School District Staff,

I hope you have felt the love from your students, families, and peers this week as we have celebrated our phenomenal employees. As we reach the end of Employee Appreciation week and near the end of a school year that has been like no other we have faced, I can’t help but to reflect on how our amazing teachers, substitute teachers, and all of our staff and employees continue to make DCSD the special place we know and love.

The dedication of each of you shines through in so many ways -- from our educators caring for and teaching students to our counselors working to ensure that students have access to social-emotional and mental health resources. Our incredible nurses have cared for the physical health of students and have gone above and beyond with COVID mitigation. Our principals have worked tirelessly to balance the education and well-being of students with navigating the ever-changing COVID pandemic. Our nutrition services workers have ensured students have access to meals whether they are in the classroom or learning remotely. Our classified employees have remained the backbone of our district. Our bus drivers ensuring our students get to and from school safely. Our operations staff disinfecting, cleaning and maintaining our buildings and facilities -- the list goes on and on. The work you continue to do is remarkable.

One week is not nearly enough time to truly thank you for all you do, but know that I am incredibly grateful for you, and am proud to serve the students of the Douglas County community by your side.

Thank you for being a part of the Douglas County School District Family!
