Restart & Recovery Task Force

DCSD Restart and Recovery Task Force

At the beginning of June, DCSD launched its Fall 2020 Restart and Recovery Task Force. We had nearly 2,000 applicants from staff members, students, parents and community members wanting to serve on this important Task Force. We wanted to bring everyone to the table who expressed interest in helping us plan for the return to school in August.

We selected 200 people to serve on Task Force focus groups. Click here to view the membership roster.

Focus Group members include a wide range of community members representing various regions of Douglas County, and an array of roles including teachers, staff members, parents, students, medical professionals, and more.

Topics our focus groups explore include:
  • Contingency Re-Entry Plans
  • eLearning
  • Elementary School - Staggered Entry
  • Middle School - Staggered Entry
  • High School - Staggered Entry
  • English Language Learners
  • Gifted Education
  • Mental Health
  • Nutrition Services
  • Operations
  • Professional Development
  • Special Education
  • Technology
  • Transportation
The remaining applicants are part of a larger input group that we will reach out to for feedback as restart plans progress.

Remote Learning Survey

In March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Douglas County School District, along with other school districts across Colorado, quickly transitioned to remote learning.

At the end of the 2019-20 school year, we asked our teachers, students, and parents/guardians to give us feedback on remote learning and how it worked for them and/or their families.

We received over 17,000 responses to that survey! Feedback received is helping our Task Force shape our Restart and Recovery plan.
