Dear Douglas County School District Community,

We continue to work closely with our partners at Tri-County Health Department as we monitor the spread of COVID-19.

As the number of cases expands in the U.S. and around the world, in an abundance of caution, DCSD is cancelling all out-of-state and international field trips, athletics, activities (that are DCSD-sponsored), as well as out-of-state and international professional development activities (that are DCSD-sponsored) until further notice.
Your child’s teacher, coach, or sponsor will be reaching out with more details.

Please know this was not an easy decision, as we recognize the impact this has on our families, but was made in the best interest of protecting the health and well-being of our students, staff, and community.

We are also closely monitoring current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). With Spring Break quickly approaching, we want to make sure our community is aware that travelers from countries with widespread transmission of COVID-19 will be asked by the CDC or other government agency to stay home for a period of 14 days. You can read more about this here.

Countries that have a Level 3 Travel Health Notice (widespread, ongoing transmission):

China (Level 3 Travel Health Notice)
Iran (Level 3 Travel Health Notice)
Italy (Level 3 Travel Health Notice)
South Korea (Level 3 Travel Health Notice)

DCSD will continue to closely monitor this situation and provide updates as needed, including when district-sponsored out of state and international travel will resume. For the latest information, please go to our website: www.dcsdk12.org/coronavirus. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases that are confirmed in Colorado, and will follow the lead of our partners at the Tri-County Health Department to ensure we are doing all we can through prevention and monitoring to minimize the spread of this virus in our school district.
