Coronavirus updateMarch 8, 2020

Dear Douglas County Community,

Douglas County School District (DCSD) and Tri-County Health Department have been notified that a potential exposure to COVID-19 at Ranch View Middle School (RVMS) is no longer a concern, due to a negative test result for the virus.

As a result, classes at Ranch View Middle School will be held as scheduled the week of March 9. This is in alignment with guidance from our partners at Tri-County Health Department. Out of an abundance of caution, the DCSD Special Projects Team is conducting a deep disinfection of RVMS this weekend. We are also conducting a deep disinfection of the buses which run our morning and afternoon routes to Ranch View Middle School, as well as buses used for recent field trips involving the school.

As you know, the week of March 16 marks Spring Break in Douglas County School District, so RVMS and all other schools will be closed that week.

The health and safety of our students is of utmost importance to the Douglas County School District. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases that are confirmed in Colorado and will follow the lead of our partners at the Tri-County Health Department to ensure we are doing all we can to minimize the spread of this virus in our school district. As released by Tri-County Health on Friday, a student in Douglas County who tested positive for COVID-19 did not attend classes following an international trip.

Tri-County Health has developed an incredible resource about COVID-19. Also, please continue to visit our website at www.dcsdk12.org/coronavirus for the latest updates, additional resources, field trip information, and ways you can help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Sincerely,

Thomas S. Tucker, Ph.D.
Superintendent
