DCSD CONTINUES SEARCH FOR INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT
DCSD Board to reconvene at a future date to continue the process of naming an interim superintendent
At a Special Meeting of the Douglas County School District (DCSD) Board of Education on Saturday, September 19, the DCSD Board of Education voted 4-3 to name Dr. Damon Brown as the sole finalist to serve as the school district’s interim superintendent.
On Sunday, September 20, Dr. Brown notified the DCSD Board of Education of his desire to withdraw his name for consideration for the position.
“I greatly enjoyed getting to know the [DCSD] board better and learn so much about your outstanding school district,” said Brown.
In alignment with state statute, the Board was allowing a 14 day waiting period prior to officially naming the DCSD interim superintendent.
“The purpose of the 14-day waiting period was to continue vetting the candidate, allow for public feedback, and ultimately determine whether both parties agree to move forward,” said David Ray, President of the DCSD Board of Education.
The DCSD Board of Education will reconvene at a future date to continue the process of naming an interim superintendent.
