DCSD Child Find is part of the district's Special Education program. It is a resource for families who are residents of Douglas County. Our Child Find teams offer developmental assessments at no charge to young children from 2 years 10 months through age 5. If they qualify for Special Education services those will be provided in one of our DCSD preschool classrooms.

Children who are kindergarten-age-eligible (turning 5 before 10/1) will want to contact their homeschool for evaluations, even if they are currently attending a private school. Once they are age-eligible for kindergarten the homeschool is the appropriate place for the assessment.

Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district.
