Mountain View Veterans Day 2019 eventDear Douglas County Community,

I want to take a moment to thank the amazing Veterans in Douglas County and across the United States for their service to our country.

I have been moved by the number of students and staff who took the time to invite our Active Service Members and Veterans into their school communities. Some schools hosted absolutely incredible Veterans Day Celebratory events, while others invited Veterans and Active Service Members to join them for breakfast or brunch. Some schools even honored Veterans who are now staff members in their buildings. Click here to see some of these events.

Each of these events across our school district serves as an amazing history lesson to our students. It gives them the opportunity to hear directly from Veterans to better understand the sacrifices they have made for this great country.

To all of you who have served, or are serving our great country, thank you!

Thomas S. Tucker, Ph.D.
Superintendent
Douglas County School District
