Resources for Staff

The Douglas County School District requires wearing of facial coverings inside school buildings for all students (grades preschool through 12) and staff regardless of vaccination status. We recognize that some students and staff cannot tolerate a facial covering due to medical or mental health reasons.

DCSD Staff members have the option to complete the ADA Accommodation Request Form and submit a medical note, if a face covering cannot be tolerated due to medical reasons.

  • Masks are required indoors for before and after school activities (including BASE) and athletics/activities.

  • Any visitors to DCSD buildings are required to wear a face covering. This includes DCSD staff and contractors who are inside school buildings when students are present.

Click here for information on how to select the most effective masks and how to wear masks correctly and consistently for the best protection.

Face Coverings Required on School Buses

  • Face coverings must be worn by all staff and students (regardless of vaccination status) on DCSD school buses in alignment with a federal CDC mandate which is currently still in place. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone utilizing public transportation must wear a face covering at all times. This includes school buses.

Vaccinations

As a reminder, if you received the COVID vaccine, please take a moment to enter your vaccination information into Workday as soon as possible. Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to avoid becoming ill with COVID. Your vaccination status in Workday will be kept confidential and only utilized should an exposure occur to help us determine which employees are exempt from isolation or potential quarantine. COVID vaccinations are NOT mandatory for DCSD staff, and your decision to receive, or not receive the vaccine will not impact your employment status with our school district.

Click HERE for the instructions if you are new to the District or do not see that task in your Workday inbox.

If a DCSD staff member has an underlying medical condition and is unable to receive the COVID vaccine, there is a process for them to request an accommodation. They should contact the DCSD Office of Human Resources at info.human_resources@dcsdk12.org for additional information.

  • Sick Days for Licensed Staff: During the school year, should a licensed staff member become ill and need to stay home, there will no longer be an option for virtual teaching or learning. Teachers will need to request a substitute as they would have prior to COVID.
  • Staff Quarantines: Employees who need to quarantine should talk with their supervisor in the instance that it is appropriate to perform duties remotely.  For employees whose jobs require them to perform duties in person, they will need to utilize Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) and/or sick leave.
  • Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL): Public Health Emergency Leave (PHEL) remains in place for employees. Specific information regarding PHEL is detailed here.
  • Employee Guide: This link provides updates to procedures, employee guidelines and policies that may be helpful. For further needs, please contact Human Resources as they are here to serve and support.
