FAQs for 2025-26

We are here for you. 

Each school pairing has a webpage – that is a good place to start. We will also have a parent meeting after fall break for your school– you can find that information on the main Growth and Decline page. Otherwise, please reach out to your school leader or district leadership.  

In 2024, Douglas County taxpayers passed a bond which included $21 million for the newly paired schools. This amount includes funds for construction and rebranding if/as needed. If our newly paired school(s) take on new names, colors, mascot, etc., a very small amount of the $21 million will go toward rebranding. 

For example, prior to community voting, options for the new school logo will be generated by district staff who already work for DCSD in our Communications Department. Also, repainting portions of school walls (assuming new school colors) or strategic accents will less than a penny on the dollar compared to reconstructing portions of each school’s interior, adding exterior seating areas, or revamping school playgrounds – DCSD construction plans include all of these physical improvements.

DCSD has committed to providing a bus stop at each closing school for SY 26-27. 

We are currently working on the possibility of providing transportation for current paired-school families who will live within one mile of the paired school and who will live outside of school boundaries after boundary changes take effect, among other requests from our pairing communities. 

We cannot promise that DCSD transportation resources will allow for these exceptions to our normal transportation eligibility rules but we will continue to assess our families’ transportation needs in relationship to our ability to meet those needs. 

We expect to announce a decision on this matter close to, or shortly after, January 1. 

 Construction on the receiving schools will begin in winter 2025 with the goal of being completed by the time school starts in August 2026. 

Much like the construction goals, the phasing of the construction is being determined through collaboration between district and building leadership with our construction vendors. The goal of this construction is to create a great environment for our kids starting in SY 26-27 while minimizing the impact on student learning during SY 25-26.
