Privately Sponsored Foreign Exchange Students (F-1)
Below are some reference materials that outline the process for an F-1 Student. The application and approval process should start by January in the school year prior to the full school year that the student will be in attendance. Student Data is happy to provide more information. Please email our team at SDES@dcsdk12.org
The decision to accept a student on an F-1 visa is an individual school decision, and is based on the family living within the high school's attendance boundaries. Please reach out to the high school directly to inquire about space.
Please remember:
- A foreign student does not receive ESL (English as a Second Language) services
- Proof of the English proficiency testing must be provided. Tests currently being accepted are:
- SLEP (Second Language English Proficiency) proctored at their home country High School/University
- ELTiS (English Language Test for International Students)
- A foreign student will receive a certificate of attendance (not a diploma)
Please be aware that the tuition for Privately Sponsored Foreign Students is $14,307 for the 24-25 school year. We anticipate an increase to the tuition amount for the 25-26 school year.
Filling out paperwork is not a guarantee that the student will be attending one of Douglas County School District Schools.
It is very important that this is completed by May 15, 2025 to ensure that the student will be enrolled in the coming school year.
DCSD does not work with F-1 Third Party Agencies.
Thank you for your interested in DCSD school district.
