Principal Profiles

family

Since I was a kid, I've known I wanted to be an educator. I loved playing school and helping in classrooms, inspired by the teachers who welcomed me in. My passion for education grew, and in high school, I found my ultimate career goal: becoming a high school principal. My inspiration was my high school principal, Joe Burton. He showed me that fostering strong relationships is the key to success. He taught me the importance of building a community where all students, staff and parents feel valued, heard and included. His leadership style, focused on connection and community, solidified my aspiration to follow in his footsteps.

When I was young I was deeply inspired by the educators in my life, especially my mom and dad. Both were passionate about learning and about helping others succeed. My mom, in particular, was a constant source of encouragement. She believed in the power of education to change lives and always made learning a priority in our home. My dad modeled patience, curiosity and a strong work ethic - qualities that I strive to bring to others each day at Buffalo Ridge Elementary School.

I was inspired to enter education when I realized how much I love serving others, especially through teaching and building personal connections. My greatest joy comes from helping people grow, learn and discover their own path to success. There is nothing more rewarding to me than knowing I played a part in someone’s journey toward reaching their goals.

My path to becoming a principal has been somewhat unique. Over the past 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various educational roles including traditional teaching to being an english language development teacher, learning specialist, gifted and talented facilitator, professional development specialist, district coordinator, and assistant principal.
