Board of Education
The Douglas County School District RE-1 Board of Education is the policy-making body of the school district. Its powers and duties are set by state law. It is the job of the Superintendent and the District's administrative team and staff to effectively execute the policies of the Board.
The Board is composed of seven (7) volunteer Directors who are elected to staggered, four-year terms at regular biennial school elections, which are held on the first Tuesday (after the first Monday) in November of each odd-numbered year.
Board Directors represent one (1) of the seven (7) director districts and are elected at-large.
A president, vice president, secretary and treasurer are selected from the Board membership by a majority of the voting members after each school board director election.
