The Pitcher's Playbook: Lessons in Leadership

The Pitcher's Playbook: Lessons in Leadership
Ann Hriso

American Academy’s Lincoln Meadows Campus had a special visit from former Colorado Rockies pitcher and Colorado native Ty Blach. Known for his impressive performances as a pitcher in Major League Baseball, Blach visited the third and fourth grade students with the goal of inspiring young minds about different leadership styles.

Using examples from his former Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants teammates, Blach pitched a no-hitter by sharing insights on the various ways leaders can be effective. He highlighted Hunter Pence's vocal and outgoing approach, Buster Posey's reserved style of leading through one-on-one interactions and Charlie Blackmon's emphasis on leading by example while fostering team camaraderie.

Blach encouraged the students to think creatively about demonstrating leadership in their classrooms and at school, sparking a lively discussion about the importance of teamwork and initiative among peers. Play ball! ⚾️
