From CAD to Concrete: Seniors Ride Out of DCSD on Custom-Built Longboards
Ann Hriso
Highlands Ranch High School engineering design and development has done an excellent job of preparing students with valuable, real world skills! In an epic final project, five seniors designed longboards using Autodesk Fusion computer-aided design and manufacturing software – while learning current industry manufacturing skills.
These seniors took their designs to the computer numeric controlled manufacturing lab and, using a Shapeoko carbide router and birch plywood, created their own longboards! After installing the longboard trucks, bearings and wheels, they skated out of school with a future full of possibilities.
