Registered voters in Douglas County will receive a mail-ballot in mid-October by the Douglas

ASIST is a FREE 2-day workshop designed to teach the skills to competently and confidently
Oct. 19-20, 2009; Nov. 9-10, 2009; March 22-23, 2010; June 7-8, 2010
Individuals select one, two-day workshop offered for DCSD personnel
and community members. DCSD registrants will receive one hour of relicensure credit or
horizontal advancement credit if the workshop is not taken during contract time.

This year’s DCSD Colorado Avalanche Community Night, sponsored by the Douglas
County Educational Foundation, will be held on Saturday, November 14. The Avs will host
the Vancouver Canucks starting at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $22 for seating throughout the Pepsi

Grade confguration discussions continue
Long Range Planning Committee met on October 7 to discuss their recommendations for
the Grade Configuration changes for the Legend and Ponderosa Feeder schools. The following
decisions were made:
Cimarron Middle School Grade Confguration Change in 2010-11.
evaluating community feedback from the Legend High School feeder area community, the
Long Range Planning Committee unanimously agreed on October 7 to forward to the Board
of Education their findings and preference regarding changing the middle school grade
configuration at Cimarron Middle School. If approved by the Board, the entire Legend High
School feeder area will change to a Grade 6, 7, 8 middle school configuration beginning in the
Sagewood Middle School Grade Confguration Change in 2010-11.

configuration at Sagewood Middle School. If approved by the Board on October 20, the entire
Ponderosa High School feeder area will change to a Grade 6, 7, 8 middle school configuration
beginning in the 2010-2011 school year. In addition, Mountain View Primary will change to a
grade K-2 configuration, and Northeast Intermediate will change to a grade 3-5 configuration.
Community meetings regarding the potential grade changes were held in September. The
The Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) will be presenting boundary options for
Elementary #47 at a community meeting in the Douglas County High School feeder area. The
meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Flagstone Elementary.
The LRPC will consider this feedback in the recommendations to the Board of Education on
Nov. 17.
