  • The Learning Center is now the Center for Staff & Community Development (CSCD).

  • CSCD now includes Staff Development and The Parent University.

  • Oversight for Staff Development will be provided by a new partnership between the Center for Staff and Community Development, the Douglas County Federation, Learning Services, and Human Resources.

  • All courses, including Skill Blocks, are being reviewed by cross-functional teams to determine alignment to current educational trends, inclusion of technology, and Ends work.

  • Course offerings will resume in July, 2009. Skill Blocks will be offered as information only, with stipend pay pending contract negotiations.

  • Instructors will be asked to resubmit course applications after identifying how they will embed technology and the Ends work.

  • CSCD acknowledges the shift to site, feeder, and central course offerings and will implement processes to assist with the transition.

  • The emphasis for future courses will shift from knowledge acquisition to site application and authentic practice.

  • Some courses will begin utilizing an online personal and work environment, allowing online collaboration, document sharing, and social networking.
