Vision Statement

The Douglas County School District English as a Second Language Program provides social and academic English language support to all learners of English, K-12, so that they may become successful and independent learners. English as a Second Language (ESL) students, with the support of parents, students, staff, teachers and the community will acquire the knowledge and ability to be responsible citizens who contribute to a global society.

Mission Statement

The missions of the Douglas County School District English as a Second Language Program are:

  • To foster English language proficiency so that students may access a strong liberal arts education and core body of curriculum
  • To cultivate the essential skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking in English language learners
  • To maintain high educational expectations for students at all levels of language learning by fostering the skill of critical thinking
  • To help students apply learning in all content areas by supporting the acquisition of social and academic English language skills
