For
the 2007-2008 academic year, the elementary schools listed below (the
Phase One Schools) will be offering the following languages. It is expected
that many additional schools will join this list for the 2008-2009 school
year, and that some may choose to offer languages other than Spanish and
Chinese. The decision on which schools will become Phase II schools and which
languages they offer will be made at the school-level, and will include discussion
with their community and feeder schools.
Part of the excitement
of this new initiative is connected to the use of video iPods. Each school participating in Phase One will receive a class set
of video iPods to aid in the language acquisition process.
