Course Proposal Information

Course proposal forms for district catalog and site-based courses and professional study groups are available below in each category for viewing and printing. Please submit District Course Proposals to the Staff Development Office six weeks prior to the start date of the course.

CREDIT CANNOT BE GRANTED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL

You will receive an email from the Staff Development Office upon approval. If you submit a proposal and do not receive an approval email, please contact the Staff Development Office before proceeding with the course.

Staff Development District Catalog Courses

District catalog courses are approved by the Staff Development Office and advertised through the Staff Development Catalog located on our website. The Staff Development Office pays instructors $30 per hour for approved district courses advertised in the Staff Development catalog and open to all employees.

Site-Based Catalog Courses

Site-based courses are offered for staff at a specific site or designed for a specific audience (i.e. classes for music teachers, bus drivers, paraprofessionals). Beginning October 1, 2008, site-based courses will be advertised in the Staff Development Course Catalog allowing participants to register online. This will also allow instructors to print attendance sheets for each session.

Site-based courses may be proposed throughout the year and must be approved by the Staff Development Office if credit is offered.

Site-based class expenses, including payment to the instructor, are the responsibility of the site or
group sponsoring the class.

Professional Study Groups

Professional Study Groups may be proposed to encourage certified, classified, and administrative/technical personnel to engage in small group studies related to student learning, instructional leadership, or knowledge and skills specific to one’s job responsibilities.

A small group of participants should identify a topic of study and submit a proposal to Staff Development. Completed proposals should be received in the Staff Development Office at least two weeks prior to the first scheduled study group session in order to receive credit. Beginning October 1, 2008, Professional Study Groups will be advertised in the Staff Development Course Catalog allowing participants to register online. This will also allow study group
leaders to print attendance sheets for each session.
