What do Professionals Say About Schools Breakfast?
“It has been proven that there is actually a breakfast-learning
connection. Study after study has shown that children who eat breakfast
are better equipped to deal with what happens in the classroom. They
score higher on achieving tests and are better able to concentrate.” Dr. Marianne Neifert (Dr. Mom) - Pediatrician
“We Spend billions of dollars to educate our students and yet if we
bring them into the classroom hungry it does not matter how good our
teachers, technology or textbooks. If you have a hungry child s/he simply cannot learn. School breakfast
fuels the core of learning by providing well-nourished, healthy
children in the classroom.” Mary Begalle – Food and Nutrition Services Team Leader, Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning.
National School Breakfast Week
The School Nutrition Association (SNA) celebrates National School
Breakfast Week every year in early March to remind you and your
students that eating a complete, healthy breakfast is an essential part
of being prepared to learn in school. This year that week is March 5-9,
2007, and it is a perfect chance to try school breakfast again – or for
the first time.
