Dear Substitute Teacher Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching for Douglas County School District. 

We have received a large number of applications this year.  As of October 6, 2008, applications will be processed as needed in the following order:

  1. Retired Douglas County School District teachers with a current Colorado Teaching License
  2. Applicants with an active Colorado Teaching License
    a. Applicants with endorsements in the following areas:
    • Elementary and Secondary Special Education
    • Elementary and Secondary Foreign Language
    • Elementary and Secondary Art, Music, and/or P.E.
    • Secondary Math
    • Secondary Science
  3. b. Applicants with all other endorsements
  4. Applicants with an active 5 year Substitute Authorization
  5. Applicants with an active 3 year Substitute Authorization
  6. One year Substitute Authorization licenses are not being accepted.
Once you have completed and submitted your online application, you will receive a “no reply” confirmation email letting you know your application was submitted successfully.  Applications will be accepted until December 31, 2008 and will be considered for the current school year ending in June, 2009.
  • Based on the needs of the school district, applications will be selected for advancement according to guidelines 1 – 5 as stated above.  You will receive an email if and when your application is advanced. 
  • Reference checks will be emailed to the email addresses of all three of your references.
  • Following completion of this process, you will receive an email inviting you to a Substitute Teacher Orientation.  All substitutes must attend an orientation.
  • The application process may take up to ten weeks to complete.
