Early Childhood Education Preschool Program Mission Statement:

The Douglas County Preschool Program is an inclusive program for both typically developing students and students identified with special needs.  Each classroom serves approximately 15 students with a teaching staff of 3-4 adults. 

The mission of the Early Childhood Preschool Program is to provide an educational foundation for young children and to develop relationships among families, staff and community for individual student achievement.

Preschool Enrollment Procedures for the 2008/09 School Year

Welcome to the 08/09 Douglas County School District Preschool school year.

For Douglas County School District Preschool registration in the 2008/09 school year, children must be 3 years old on or before October 1, 2008. Children who are 5 years old on or before October 1, 2008 are eligible for kindergarten and cannot enroll in our preschool program. For kindergarten registration, please call your neighborhood elementary school.

The Douglas County Preschool Program currently has openings at varies sites. To register your child, please download and complete the Census Registration Packet and the 2008/09 Registration Packet and bring them into the Early Childhood Center. A copy of your child's birth certificate and proof of residency are also needed to complete the registration process. Omission of any of the following forms will cause your application to be denied.

1 Census Registration Packet and 08/09 Registration Packet
2 A copy of your child's birth certificate
3 Proof of Residency (Warranty/Deed of Trust, Tax Property Bill, Lease Agreement) in Douglas County
Preschool session are 2 1/2 hours long. Schedules will vary from:
Start Times AM: 8:15 - 9:00 Start Times PM: 12:30-1:15
Tuition for the 2008/09 School Year:
$150 per month for a 2 day a week program $290.00 per month for a 4 day a week program
Preschool locations and times are subject to change.

Information about Our Preschools:

  • Our preschools are located throughout the district in various elementary and high school buildings.

  • We offer the following 2 ½ hours per day programs, (class times will vary per site):
    -2 half days, Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, AM or PM classes
    -4 half days, Monday through Thursday, AM or PM classes

  • We are a tuition-based program.  Tuition is $150.00 per month for a 2 day a week program and $290.00 per month for a 4 day a week program.  A nonrefundable  $65.00 registration fee and a $20.00 supply fee, per child, will be required when enrollment is accepted.

  • For the 2008/09 School year, preschool children must be 3 or 4 years old by October 1st of the current school year in order to register for preschool. Children who are 5 years old by October 1st and eligible for kindergarten, can not enroll for preschool.

  • Preschool starts early August, with a fall, winter, and spring break, and classes ending in May.

  • Curriculum:
    Douglas County School District Preschool Curriculum is aligned with Douglas County School District standards. The Douglas County School District Preschool program teaches all children in an age-appropriate way and treats them with respect as individuals. Learning activities allow children at all developmental levels to be challenged, work together, and learn from one another. Curricular themes guide instruction in language, communication, literacy, science, math, play and thinking, social skills and motor skills.
