Innovative leadership from the School Board and administration along with the dedication of the teaching staff has kept the district on the educational forefront. Creative thinking, teamwork and professional pride ensure that the district will be able to accomplish its long term and short term goals.

Douglas County School District demonstrates a strong commitment to the personal and professional growth of its employees. Professional educators will find many avenues for continued learning and increased satisfaction.

As of 10/1/07 the on-line application was upgraded to a new system. If you applied prior to 10/1/07 you need to put in a new application.

Click here to start the application process.

As of July 1, 2007, the Certified Transfer Process for the 2007-2008 school year has changed.

Licensed district employees interested in transferring must submit a Transfer Request Form to the school/site where you wish to transfer by noon on the closing date of the posting.  Send the original Transfer Request Form, a current resume, and the names and phone numbers of 3 references, including current Principal. A transfer form and packet must be completed for each position for which the applicant is considering transfer. Send a copy of the Transfer Request Form to the Human Resources Office by noon on the closing date of the posting. Employees should retain a copy of the Transfer Request for their records. Forms are available at all worksites and online here.

Guidelines for Voluntary Teacher Transfers

All regular status and probationary teachers in good standing may apply for a voluntary transfer to another assignment as soon as that assignment has been posted.  All teachers applying for a voluntary transfer must meet the following criteria:

  • Meet the requirements under NCLB for “highly qualified” teacher;
  • Submit a voluntary transfer form to HR prior to the closing date and time of the posting.
  • If you are on a Professional Improvement Plan, you are ineligible for transfer until satisfactory completion of the plan.
  • If you are on a One Year Only contract, you are ineligible for the transfer process.

After May 15 of each school year, voluntary transfers between schools will require the consent of both building principals.  All teachers will be eligible to transfer into or apply for positions outside of the conventional classroom or into a new job classification (i.e. TOSA, BRT, teacher Deans, Administrative, etc.) regardless of the proximity in time to the start of the school year.

Douglas County School District is an equal opportunity education institution and  does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex,  or disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its  educational programs or activities.
