About TRAC

Why Was the Technology Committee Created?

  • To assist district schools and departments in determining appropriate technology solutions.

  • To coordinate compatibility of new technology choices with existing network and software solutions.

  • To maintain the district’s flexibility to adopt emerging technologies.

  • To ensure alignment of all technology projects with district goals and the District Technology Plan.

When Do You Use the Technology Committee?

  • When you want to use technology (hardware or software) not published as a district standard.

  • When the design phase of a new project’s technology component is ready for review.

  • When you have a question or want advice about using technology in your school or department.

How Do You Use the Technology Committee?

  • Call the Information Technology Department (303-387-9300) and have your request assigned to an ITS Project Liaison.

  • Discuss your technology need and the review process with your Technology Project Liaison.

  • Provide a written description to your liaison that addresses the following aspects of your request:

    -Administrative or instructional need

    -Product design and documentation

-Compatibility with, and impact on, existing infrastructure (HW, SW, network, security)

-Needs and plans for staff training, testing, tech support, implementation

-Support from impacted departments/personnel, chain-of-command leadership, and related Curriculum Council if the request is for instructional software

    -Cost and funding sources

    -Vendor economic strength, support, expertise

    -Monitoring process and schedule

  • Your request will be scheduled for review at an upcoming Technology meeting.

  • The Technology Committee will reach consensus and act on your proposal by: (1) recommending it to the CIO for final approval; (2) requesting additional information; or (3) denying the request.

  • According to the monitoring schedule established, you and the Technology Committee will review the effectiveness of the new technology following its initial implementation period. If the technology is deemed successful, it will be added to the published list of approved district technologies.

Anticipated Results of the Technology Committee

  • A central process for the adoption and monitoring of new hardware and software

  • A current published list of approved district hardware and software technology standards

  • Alignment of instructional technologies with curriculum

  • Alignment of all technology projects with district goals and the District Technology Plan

  • A district wide technology environment that ensures stability, manageability and flexibility.
