The mission of Student Development is to build a proactive foundation of social, emotional and physical readiness that allows each student to reach his or her individual potential.

Did you know...

  • Participation in high school sports programs increased over 6.4% during the 2007-2008 school year.

  • 5,679 Douglas County high school students participated in athletics last school year. There were 4,480 opportunities for activities participation.

  • The number of middle school cross country participants increased by 12% and wrestling participants increased by 31% during the 2007-2008 school year.

  • 3,682 middle school students participated in a sport last year.  49% of middle school students played at least one sport.

  • 67 secondary students completed Asset Based Intervention classes for substance abuse and behavior management during the past school year.  Elementary intervention programs benefited students in five elementary schools.

  • 21 Nurses serve the students and staff members of 72 charter, elementary, middle and high schools in the Douglas County School District.

  • 20,928 students in twenty seven schools and DCSD Transportation were impacted by Positive Behavior Support during the 2007-2008 school year.
