Hiring process:

• Fill out the classified application form and attach your current (30 days) Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Turn in both forms at the nearest bus terminal.

• Job offered (or denied). The job offer depends on the ability to pass the Department Of Transportation (DOT) physical test, which will be scheduled by the district’s training department.
  
  
• Trainee must acquire his/her Temporary Instruction Permit (T.I.P) before the training start date, along with a valid Social Security card or passport.
  
  
• Class start dates set—district’s orientation and training

Training Locations

General information about training

Training and testing for CDLBP2S licenses (Commercial Driver’s License Class B, Passenger Endorsement—P2, School Bus Endorsement—S) are held during an approximate two-week period, 40 hours a week, at varying times during the day. All training sessions are conducted at our sites by our professional trainers.

Through the training you will learn about:

• CPR and first aid
  
  
• Defensive driving
  
  
• Mountain driving
  
  
• Special Education training

Once initial training is completed, you will be qualified as a Douglas County School District bus driver. Continuous training will be required throughout your employment with Douglas County School District.
