Flagstone Elementary School Mission Statement:
Our daily commitment: Flagstone Elementary will be a safe, friendly, child-centered learning community focused on excellence and success for each student.
These words are taken seriously each day at Flagstone. Every person we hire is asked if he/she will be a daily role model for the mission. At the start of the school year, each classroom writes their own mission statement and shares it at a school assembly. These mission statements are displayed collectively in our galleria, and each class displays their own in their room. This emphasis on mission is to remind our students and ourselves to be purposeful in our actions and to remain focused on the important things each day.

Safety and friendliness come first. We want each student to feel safe at school and to know, and feel, that we care about one another here. We hold our children’s well-being and learning in the center of our actions. Both within our classrooms and as a staff, we focus on learning together. Our teachers meet as teams weekly to plan instruction, share materials and ideas, and to monitor the learning progress of their students. Our staff development this year is centered on literacy and technology. We know that the more we know, the more our students can learn.

Focusing on excellence means that we will have high standards for academics and behavior. While excellence is our goal, we also know that success means different things for different students. We work hard to ensure that each child is successful.
