Q: What is the protocol for handling parent concerns?

A: Effective communications with parents is vital to the overall success of the district. Parents who have concerns should follow the steps below:

Step 1 - Parent & Teacher/Employee
Step 2 - Parent & Principal (or Assistant Principal)
Step 3 - Parent & School Director (directors are assigned per high school feeder area)
Step 4 - Parent & Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services
Step 5 - Parent & Deputy Superintendent
Step 6 - Parent & Superintendent
Step 7 - Parent & Board of Education

Q: What is the role of the Douglas County Educational Foundation?

A: The Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF) develops private resources to enrich education within Douglas County schools for the fulfillment of lifelong learning experiences for students, citizens and the community. The DCEF will achieve this mission by directing support where appropriate toward the following objectives: facilitate learner development through enhanced educational activities for all ages within the community; enrich individual life experience by promoting cultural activities in the arts and humanities; support the professional growth of teaching by encouraging new and creative ideas for delivering education; and, promote school and community partnerships by encouraging individuals and organizations to share resources.
