Q: What are average class
sizes?
A: The district strives to maintain average
classes of 25 students per classroom teacher. We staff our schools according
to the following ratios:
- Grades K-3—23
- Grades 4-6—26
- Grades 7-8—19.5
- Grades 9-12—20.5

Pay Plan and who does it cover?
A: Douglas County School District has implemented performance-based
compensation systems for all employee groups. These plans will continue to
be adjusted, expanded and improved based on the feedback we receive. The goal
of the compensation systems is to improve overall district performance. Douglas
County’s Performance Pay system for teachers is the most comprehensive
and long running in the nation and continues to attract the attention of a
wide range of local, national and even international audiences. For more information,
