Job Description and Requirements:
Brief job description: Conducts vehicle and foot patrols of District property to ensure safety and security of students, visitors and staff and to ensure the security of buildings and property; responds to burglar alarms and other calls for security assistance; monitors District security systems during non business hours and requests appropriate response from other security offices, other District personnel and/or public safety and police personnel as needed. Provides security and assistance for public meetings of the Board of Education and other District committees and activities at the central administration complex or at other locations; investigates and documents criminal events on District owned property; provides patrol of District property to detect and/or interdict vandalism, theft, burglary and other criminal activity; provides escort for fund transfers; assists in the evacuation of buildings during emergency drills and actual emergencies. Specific requirements: High school graduate or equivalent; one to three years job related experience preferred which may be gained by one to three years experience in law enforcement, security or similar activities or two years education in law enforcement, or criminal justice; have or be eligible for current Peace Officer’s Standard Training, POST, Certification; or completion of a state certified police academy or military police training academy; or job related knowledge which may be gained by three to five years experience in law enforcement, or two years education in law enforcement or police science; must satisfactorily complete annual re-certification training in law enforcement and security skills; valid Colorado Drivers License; must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certificate, may be obtained on the job; is flexible; works cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers; maintains a positive attitude.
