Chief Information Officer

Randy joined Douglas County School District as Chief Information Officer (CIO) in July 2007, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Randy was CIO for Geneva Pharmaceuticals, Director of Application Development for StorageTek, Consulting Manager for Andersen Consulting, Hosting Customer Delivery Manager for Blue Care Network (employed by The TriZetto Group), Director of CIS Integration for The TriZetto Group, and Owner of his own Consulting Company (Weldon IT Consulting, LLC). 

Randy obtained his MBA in International Business from the University of Colorado at Denver, and his BSBA with a concentration in Management Science from Colorado State University.  Randy was born in Alamosa, Colorado and grew up in Durango and other small towns along the western slope of Colorado and New Mexico.

As CIO, Randy’s responsibilities include:  development and implementation of a vision and strategic plan for Information Technology Services (ITS) aligned with the corresponding vision and plans of the District as a whole; ensuring all new and existing applications are implemented and supported on time and on budget; ensuring all technical and telecommunications infrastructure is reliable, secure and cost effective (with appropriate disaster recovery capabilities); and ensuring quality and performance of all ITS services are measured and reported regularly, with corrective actions taken as necessary.
 

Director of Information Services

Dwight joined Douglas County School District in 2001, and is a member of the senior leadership team within ITS reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. As the Director of Information Services, his primary responsibility is the effective plan, design, development, implementation and support of district-wide information management systems through the utilization of a formal Systems Development Life Cycle process. His responsibilities also include active leadership of three distinct functional teams: Application Development and Support; Web Services; and Records Management Systems. Under Dwight's leadership, staff resources provide and support the information systems that allow District personnel to conduct the daily business of education, support and business services, including:

  • Database management and development

  • District-wide application delivery and support

  • Web development and management

  • Email services

  • Document and records management, reproduction, distribution and storage

  • Student-related State and Federal reporting and accounting

Director of Technology Services

Doug joined Douglas County School District in 1977, and has taught Chemistry, Advanced Placement Chemistry, Biology and Physics at Douglas County High School. He assumed the additional role of technology coordinator for Douglas County High School in 1994.

Doug filled the district-level role of Director of Technology Services in 2005, and is a member of the senior leadership team within ITS reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. As the Director of Technology Services, his primary responsibility is the effective plan, design, development, implementation and support of district-wide technology systems through the utilization of a formal Systems Development Life Cycle process. His responsibilities also include active leadership of four distinct functional teams: Desktop Support; Infrastructure Systems; Network Planning and Construction; and Educational Technology. Under Doug's leadership, staff resources provide and support the technology systems that allow District personnel to conduct the daily business of education, support and business services, including:

  • Computer hardware and software installation and maintenance

  • Data Center operations and maintenance

  • Telephone systems operation and maintenance

  • Network design, construction, operation and maintenance

  • Educational technology resources and support within schools
