Funding

Nutrition Services is operated as an enterprise fund separate from the general fund. Operating expenses are paid through federal funds and revenue collected from the sale of food. This means that district property tax money ends up in the classroom where it belongs.

Our Scope of Work

  • Nutritious, well-balanced lunches are offered every school day in 61 school cafeterias. Our lunch prices are: Elementary $1.75; Secondary $2.00; and Reduced $ .40.
     
     
  • Breakfast is served at 23 elementary schools and  in all secondary schools. Our breakfast prices are: Elementary: $1.00; Secondary $1.25; and Reduced $ .30.
     
     
  • Sack lunches are always available for field trips. For information please contact your school cafeteria manager.
     
     
  • Free and Reduced Lunch - we accommodate those in need with opportunities to receive a free or reduced cost meal. Applications for Free and Reduced price meals are available at schools, through our office or on this web site.
           
     
  • Updated Menus are posted at our web site and sent home monthly. Please refer to them for additional information about our program and offerings.
             
     
  • Lactose Intolerance and Milk Allergies - Douglas County now offers soy milk with school lunches for children who are lactose intolerant or allergic to milk. Silk soy milk is a lactose free non-dairy alternative that offers the same vitamins and minerals as dairy milk

We welcome serving your children. You may join them for lunch at anytime by notifying the school on the day that you will be eating.
