STAR Lab

Purpose
S.T.A.R. Labs are district programs located in high schools to assist high school students in a variety of ways:

  • to earn high school credits during fall, spring, and summer semesters

  • to earn credits during periods of expulsion or medical emergency

  • to earn credits upon making a transition into a new school setting

  • to prepare for taking the GED

Curriculum
NovaNET is the primary curriculum utilized in S.T.A.R. Labs. NovaNET is an online curriculum that contains over 10,000 hours of interactive lessons in the core content areas (math, science, social studies, and language arts) and in a few elective areas.

Placement
Some course work is demanding and requires that a student possess certain minimum competencies. Since space is limited, STAR Lab Coordinators will work with school counselors and administrators to establish priorities.
